Dr. Johanna Schanz

Dr. Johanna Schanz was born in 1979 in Hannover and studied biology at the Leibniz University Hannover from 1998 to 2004. After her diploma work she went to Stuttgart for her PhD Thesis (2004-2007). Since 2008 she is employed at the Fraunhofer Institute of Interfacial Engineering and Biotechnolgy in Stuttgart as the leader of the group "vascularized test systems". She focuses on the investigation of different cell culture and co-culture models and their influence on cellular behaviour and function. In 2009 she won the 28. Human (Animal Welfare) Research Prize of the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection.
